About School

Our school is the first in South Maharashtra to introduce vocational training skills such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, cooking, agriculture, and textiles — supported by well-equipped and specialized labs — to prepare students for a well-rounded future. Our teaching and learning strategies include not only activity-based learning but also workshops and events that provide opportunities for life skills to flourish. We are equipped with spacious classrooms, computer labs, vocational centers, and a multi-purpose hall. As ardent believers in holistic development, we provide a wide range of co-curricular activities alongside a strong academic foundation. In addition, the school offers sponsored coaching for sports including cricket, football, throwball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and karate. Another notable feature of our infrastructure is the astro-turf ground — the first of its kind in Kolhapur — which provides a professional and inspiring environment for our budding athletes.

Shrimant Maisaheb Bavdekar laid the foundation of this school in 1946. A stalwart in pre-primary education in Maharashtra, she was trained under Madam Maria Montessori in Ahmedabad and Italy. She was a true pioneer of early childhood education, a concept that was unknown in Kolhapur until then. In 1948, Madam Montessori visited Maisaheb’s Bal Mandir Montessori. Impressed by the school’s progress, she honored Maisaheb with the title “The Little Montessori of India.” Maisaheb worked tirelessly to strengthen the core foundations of early childhood education in various schools across Maharashtra, alongside stalwarts such as Anutai Wagh and Tarabai Modak. Her dedication earned her several prestigious accolades, including the FIE Foundation Award, Bal Shikshan Parishad Award, and Kolhapur Bhushan Award, among many others. Responding to growing demands, she founded the Primary Section in 1962 and the High School in 1987. To ensure the seamless functioning of the institution, she established the Shri Pant Amatya Bal Vikas Vishwastha Nidhi Trust in 1975. Maisaheb’s school became renowned for its strict discipline and high standards of teaching and learning. During her remarkable journey, she trained numerous teachers, empowered women in need, and shaped countless young lives. She remained determined to her mission of education until the very end of her journey in 2004.
