About School
Our school is the first school in South Maharashtra to have introduced vocational training skills such as mechanical, electrical, carpentry, cooking, agriculture, and textile—backed with well-equipped and specialised labs—handholding the students for a well-rounded future.
The school’s teaching and learning strategies encompass not only activity-based learning but also various other workshops and events that provide an opportunity for life skills to thrive.
Further, we are equipped with spacious classrooms, computer labs, vocational centers, and a multi-purpose hall. As we are ardent believers in holistic development, we provide a range of co-curricular activities alongside a strong academic focus.
In addition, we provide school-sponsored coaching for sports in arenas such as cricket, football, throwball, basketball, badminton, table tennis, and karate. Another notable infrastructural feature of our school is our astro-turf ground, which happens to be the first in Kolhapur, providing a wholesome and professional environment for our budding athletes.
Shrimant Maisaheb Bavdekar had laid the foundation of this school in 1946. She was a stalwart in pre-primary education in Maharashtra, trained under Madam Maria Montessori in Ahmedabad and Italy. She was the harbinger of early childhood education, which was unknown until then in Kolhapur.
In 1948, Madam Montessori visited Maisaheb’s Bal Mandir Montessori. She saw the progress of the school and honoured her with the title “The Little Montessori of India.”
Maisaheb worked tirelessly to strengthen the core foundations of early childhood education in various schools across Maharashtra alongside giants in the field such as Anutai Wagh and Tarabai Modak.
Her dedication to education earned her several accolades including the FIE Foundation Award, Bal Shikshan Parishad Award, The Kolhapur Bhushan Award, and many more.
Taking into consideration the continuous demands, she founded the primary section in 1962 and the high school in 1987.
For the seamless functioning of this educational institution, she formed a trust in 1975 under the name Shri Pant Amatya Bal Vikas Vishwastha Nidhi.
Maisaheb’s school became well known for its strict discipline and high standards of teaching and learning. During her tenure, she trained many teachers and helped countless women in need. She was determined to continue her mission until the very end of her journey in 2004.
